Study Abroad at Fisher

The program gives you academic access to more than 100 locations around the world, including Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa. All grades earned abroad are counted as part of your Fisher grade point average, and your financial aid applies to all affiliate programs.

An added benefit of the program is the Study Abroad Club. Members of the club can help you through the application process and answer general questions about studying abroad. This organization also brings study abroad alumni together to share their experiences, forging academic and professional connections in the process.

Study abroad generally takes place during both the fall and spring semesters. There also are many summer offerings available through our affiliated programs.

While you are abroad, you will be required to enroll in at least 12 credit hours of classes. While courses offered abroad vary greatly, depending on the program, you may be able to take several classes that count toward your major and Fisher Core Curriculum requirements. All courses are taken for a grade, meaning no pass/fail.

Eligibility

You are considered eligible for the study abroad program if you are a:

  • Sophomore with a minimum 3.0 GPA, and have declared a major and secured approval from your department
  • Junior or senior with a minimum 2.75 GPA

You also must be in good disciplinary standing.

Mia Donohue, Class of 2024, studied in Salamanca, Spain during her junior year at St. John Fisher University. The experience provided her with valuable insights in the field of public health, and offered her the chance to travel to locations around Europe.
