Fisher Named 2023-24 Military Friendly School

September 11, 2023

St. John Fisher University has earned 2023-24 Military Friendly® School designation by Viqtory Media. Fisher was awarded the silver rank in the private doctorate offering category and was one of only 530 schools to earn special awards of the more than 1,800 participating institutions.

The Military Friendly School list selects institutions using proprietary survey responses as well as public data. Fisher stood out in the survey most for its culture and commitment to military students. The list will be published in the May and October issues of G.I. Jobs magazine and can be found at

The publication praised Fisher for welcoming students who have served in the military or have a parent or spouse who is a veteran. Those eligible for VA benefits may be involved with the Yellow Ribbon program, which offers tuition assistance throughout their time at the University.

In addition to benefits provided by the Yellow Ribbon program, military students can expect support at Fisher, said Monica Gebhardt, assistant registrar and veterans coordinator. She noted that the Office of Veteran Affairs, Office of Student Financial Services, and the Health and Wellness Center all work hard to provide a welcoming environment for these students.

Additionally, Gebhardt said the entirety of campus works to make a healthy space for veterans, pointing to the annual campus-wide Veteran’s Day recognition.
