The Student Government Association (SGA) is committed to creating an approachable, welcoming environment that serves all clubs and students at Fisher.
As president of SGA, Dan Zornow ’28 leads the Executive Board and Senate meetings, and works with students, faculty, and administrators to advocate for issues that are important to students. He also serves as an ex-officio member on the Board of Trustees and as student representative for Faculty Assembly to share student updates as well as concerns.
“I hope to strengthen the connection between students, faculty, and administration and make sure students feel comfortable bringing their ideas and concerns to SGA,” he said. “I also want to increase student involvement in SGA and work on initiatives that make a positive impact on the student experience.”
A management major and psychology minor, Zornow has participated in the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership’s (SEL) Leadership Excellence at Fisher (LEAF) program and is a member of the Teddi Dance for Love.
As vice president, Jenna Cwiklinski ’28 handles the internal affairs of SGA and serves as the parliamentarian for Senate, working with the chief of staff to maintain transparency from SGA to the general student population, educating Senate on Roberts Rules of Order, and addressing any concerns students may have. Additionally, she supports the rest of the executive board, and is responsible for planning events such as Sip ‘n Spill and Cardinal Awards.
Driving her work with the Senate is her goal of making it a place for everyone.
“This year, I hope to accomplish making the Senate a more welcoming and inclusive environment, as well as making sure we are equally representing each constituency and promoting a policy of transparency,” she said.
A criminology major with a minor in psychology, Cwiklinski is also member of Best Buddies.
Owen Tuori ’28 serves as chief of staff, managing the organization’s files and records and handling administrative roles to enable operations and internal communications for the organization.
In his work, Tuori looks to improve transparency in the organization and enable information about organization activities to disseminate to the campus community.
Tuori is an accounting major who also serves as a member of the Dean’s Student Advisory Council for the Business School and the Fisher Coalition for Civic Thought.
As director of marketing and communications, Connor Brown ’29 helps promote SGA events, opportunities, and initiatives to the student body. He also focuses on connecting with students, keeping them aware of SGA’s initiatives and how they can get involved.
“I hope to make SGA feel more welcoming and approachable to all students. One of my biggest goals is to have all of our open positions filled by the end of October,” he said. “I also really value having in-person conversations with students because I think building those personal connections is one of the best ways to get more people involved in SGA.”
Brown is a nursing major who recently co-organized Fisher’s first annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, and is always finding new ways to contribute to the Fisher community through campus events and service opportunities.
Kate Gernold ’28 is SGA’s director of student life and organizations, acting as a liaison between club leaders, SGA, and SEL. She supports students in forming new clubs, event planning, addressing club concerns, and increasing club outreach and involvement across campus.
“I hope to strengthen the relationship between SGA and club leaders by creating an environment where clubs feel comfortable coming to SGA for guidance or to voice any concerns they may have,” she said. “I want club leaders to know that SGA is here to listen, support them, and work alongside them to find solutions and help them succeed.”
Gernold is a double major studying economics and legal studies. She serves as an economics and statistics peer tutor, is a member of the women’s volleyball team, Student Athlete Advisory Council, Economics and Data Analytics Club, and Pre-Law Association.
As the Director of Financial Affairs, Josh Lopez ’27 oversees club finances, assists with purchases and funding requests, and works with student organizations to help them successfully plan and fund their events.
“I hope to make the financial process easier for clubs and ensure they have the support and resources they need. My goal is to help clubs host successful events and contribute to a stronger and more involved student body,” he said.
A biology and sustainability major, Lopez is involved with numerous other clubs and organizations on campus, and serves as a student ambassador for Admissions.
