News10NBC Anchor Deanna Dewberry Named Teddi Dance for Love Honorary Chair

January 19, 2021

St. John Fisher College students planning the 2021 Teddi Dance for Love have a passionate advocate in their corner as they prepare for a dance like the College has never seen. Deanna Dewberry, News10NBC anchor and consumer investigative reporter, will serve as the 24-hour dance-a-thon’s honorary chair, cheering on the students as they raise money to benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times during the first-ever virtual event.

The committee and Camp Good Days selected Dewberry in recognition of her involvement in community activities that enrich the lives of cancer survivors and promote cancer research. A four-time cancer survivor, Dewberry will help the students raise money for a cause close to her heart.

“My children and I have all benefitted from the wonderful experiences Camp Good Days provides,” Dewberry said.  “It was at camp that my little ones formed friendships that will be life-long. I attended the camp for women while undergoing breast cancer treatment, and the experience was extraordinary.  I’m so proud to help cheer on the students at St. John Fisher College as they raise crucial funding for this great cause.”

This year, the Teddi Dance will see big changes as the committee creates a virtual experience for dancers and the children of Camp Good Days. With COVID-19 safety precautions limiting the number of students who can gather in-person, many dancers will tune in to a live stream from the event’s headquarters in the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Athletic Center, where much-loved traditions will be re-imagined and new ones will be made.

As honorary chair, Dewberry will help the Teddi Committee celebrate the week leading up to the dance, serving as a co-host of a virtual Very Beary Brunch on Friday, Feb. 12. Teddi Committee Chair Emily Trotman ’21 and Vice Chair Sam Carson ’22, are thrilled to have such a strong ambassador cheering on the dancers, sparking excitement and energy throughout the night.

“We are very honored to have Deanna as our Honorary Chair this year,” said Trotman. “She is such an inspiration in the Rochester area and we look forward to having her on our team as we dance for the kids of Camp Good Days.”
