February 7, 2023

Four St. John Fisher University students were recognized at the annual Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) Conference, which took place on February 2-3 in Tampa, Florida.

Four students and one faculty member at the conference in Tampa.

Hannah Mazzuca, Gavin Miller, Andrew Symans, and Chrissy Van Allen were formally inducted into the Chi Sigma Mu Honor Society (CSM) while at the conference.

To be considered for this honor students must have at least a 3.4 cumulative GPA and have completed 60 credit hours of their coursework. Chi Sigma Mu students not only perform at the top of their class academically, but they volunteer within their department, school, and institution, actively pursue professional development opportunities, and foster a sense of community between students and faculty in their programs.

“I am very thankful to have been nominated for induction into the COSMA Honor Society,” said Symans. “Being a member of COSMA increases my enthusiasm for starting my career in the sport management industry. The trip to Tampa was a great opportunity to network with several industry professionals and learn about their experiences.”

Among the organizations that the students visited were the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and United Soccer League, including meeting program alumnus John Cochol ’08, senior vice president of club services.

Students inducted into the honor society represent the best that a sport management program has to offer. They score in the top of their class academically, are involved in professional development, and strive to assist within their campus community.
