Two St. John Fisher University Online Graduate Programs Recognized by U.S. News

Two online graduate offerings at St. John Fisher University were recognized in the U.S. News 2024 Best Online Programs ranking. The rankings evaluate online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in seven disciplines offered by regionally accredited institutions.

The M.S. in Nursing online pathway, offered through the Wegmans School of Nursing, ranked No. 137 in its first year of ranking eligibility. The master’s in nursing program as a whole is also ranked each year by U.S. News; in 2023, it placed No. 32 in the Best Grad Schools ranking. The M.S. in Library Media, offered through the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education, ranked No. 231.

“Over the last decade, the University has invested in robust online programs, expanding the accessibility and availability of a Fisher education,” said Dr. Gerard J. Rooney, president of the University. “We are proud to earn recognition from for Best Online Programs; it is a testament to the dedication of our faculty and the success of our students and alumni.”

Offered online or on campus, the M.S. in Nursing program equips students for the next phase of their nursing career. Students can enroll in one of four specialized degree programs: Primary Care Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult/Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. The School of Nursing welcomed its first cohort of students into the online pathway in fall 2021.

The M.S. in Library Media is designed for teachers who hold initial certification and wish to specialize in library media. The program leads to initial certification as a library media specialist and also offers professional certification in the student’s original initial teaching certificate area. Among the University’s earliest online offerings, the program launched in 2012.

The growth of online offerings at the University has continued in recent years. The Wegmans School of Pharmacy launched a Pharm.D. online pathway in fall 2020 and the MBA program was reimagined and transitioned to fully online in summer 2022.
