Countdown to Commencement 2025: Rebecca Sienkiewicz
Rebecca Sienkiewicz, a nursing major, is this week’s featured senior in the “Countdown to Commencement” series. She was nominated by Tiffany Nicholas, associate director of student engagement and leadership.
Sienkiewicz had her eyes set on Fisher since she was in 7th grade. The prestigious nursing program was recommended to her during an in-class workshop by one of her teachers at the time. Keeping that in the back of her mind all throughout high school, she circled back to Fisher as she still was passionate about becoming a nurse.
Sienkiewicz became an important part of the first-year Orientation Team and continued to be on the team for three years. She spent two years as an orientation leader (OL) and this past year as student orientation coordinator (SOC).
“Rebecca was a crucial part of our leadership team, helping and leading the students that she worked with, and supporting our staff as well. Since then, she has helped with a few engagement and leadership events, and has been a remarkable source of support for students and staff alike,” said Nicholas.
Sienkiewicz is one of those students that Nicholas knows will have a long-term impact on her even after she graduates. She has reminded Nicholas to care for herself, especially after spending so much time caring for others.
“I’ll remember her warmth, eagerness to go to work, ability to mix work and play, and the time she scooped ice cream during Family Weekend and got it all over herself,” Nicholas joked.
Although Sienkiewicz emphasizes how well-prepared Fisher has helped her become for her future in nursing, she is most thankful for how Fisher has helped guide her to be the best version of herself she can be.
“The most significant lesson I’ve learned from Fisher is about myself, the relationships I’ve been able to form, and the friendships I’ve been able to appreciate. Fisher has not only prepared me to be a nurse, but also to be a person,” she said.
