Countdown to Commencement 2026: Jason Weng

January 26, 2026

This week’s featured student in the Countdown to Commencement series is Jason Weng, an accounting student nominated by Dr. Dan Connolly, dean of the School of Business.

Weng, a first-generation scholar, chose Fisher for its welcoming community. In the School of Business, he is involved in the Accounting Club and the Dean’s Student Advisory Council. Beyond academics, he is a member of the track team, an accounting scholarship recipient, a resident assistant, and an ambassador for campus open houses.

One of the roles Weng is most proud of is his position in the Asian Student Union, where he helps promote inclusivity across campus. Through this work, he has seen firsthand how a community grows stronger when everyone contributes. He also values his experience as a resident assistant, a role that allows him to use what he has learned over four years to support and guide first-year students.

“I can see my transition from a first-year to a senior, and all of the experience I can pass down to all the first-years I have right now,” he said.

Weng also found a meaningful home in Campus Ministry, where he was able to explore his faith and find his footing at his own pace. The supportive environment helped him build confidence and deepen his sense of belonging at Fisher.

He names his time on the track team as one of his most rewarding accomplishments. Being a student-athlete helped him form lasting relationships and fueled his passion throughout college.

In his nomination, Connolly praised Weng for his work ethic and drive to continually improve. “His discipline as an athlete extends to his academics and his internship experiences,” he said.

Weng completed a summer 2025 internship with KPMG in Philadelphia and has accepted a full-time position with the firm beginning in fall 2026.

His advice to fellow students: “Own your story. Your story and your perspectives are important to the rest of the community.”
