Fisher Faces on “TODAY”

March 6, 2026

In honor of “Read Across America Day” on Monday, March 2, the TODAY Show hosted a group of current and future school librarians. Among them were two students in Fisher’s graduate online library media program, Stephanie Rochester and Cheryl Rizzo.

Two Fisher librarians appear on the TODAY Show for Read Across America day.

The group received a special video message from former First Lady Laura Bush, who once worked as a librarian, as well as a surprise donation from Scholastic to furnish their school respective libraries. They also had the opportunity to meet Actress Jamie Lee Curtis and Actor Daniel Radcliffe who were guests on the show that morning.

Both Rochester and Rizzo are participants of the Teacher2Librarian program that supports New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) classroom teachers to gain their M.S. in Library Media at Fisher or Syracuse University, complete the requirements to attain New York State certification as a PreK-12 school library media specialist, and take a position as a certified school librarian in NYCPS.

In three cohorts of Teacher2Librarian, 78 graduates became certified school librarians, and more than 50,000 students gained access to a school library program and qualified school librarian.
