March 12, 2026

Dr. Vivek S. Dave, professor and chair in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Wegmans School of Pharmacy, has been selected for the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy’s Academic Leadership Fellows Program (ALFP), a nationally recognized program that prepares pharmacy educators for leadership roles in higher education and academic pharmacy.

Dr. Vivek Dave joins the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Academic Leadership Fellows Program.

The year-long program, which began in the fall and concludes this summer, focuses on leadership development through sessions on self-discovery, team building, navigating change, and emerging issues in higher education. Through the program, participants engage with colleagues and mentors from across the country while strengthening the skills needed to lead in complex academic and health care environments.

“Participating in the Academic Leadership Fellows Program has been an energizing and meaningful experience. It has given me the opportunity to learn from accomplished leaders across the country, reflect more intentionally on my own leadership approach, and think strategically about how we can continue to advance pharmacy education in ways that support students, faculty, and the profession,” said Dave.

Dave is the eighth faculty member from St. John Fisher University to be selected for the program. Upon completion, he will join a national network of more than 500 ALFP alumni, many of whom have gone on to serve in leadership positions across academic pharmacy, higher education, and health care.

Before joining Fisher, Dave earned his Ph.D. in pharmaceutics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and worked at Lubrizol Corporation, where he led research focused on pharmaceutical excipients and dosage form applications.

At the Wegmans School of Pharmacy, Dave teaches in the pharmaceutics curriculum, including Pharmaceutics I & II and Compounding of Sterile and Semisolid Preparations. His research interests include excipient characterization and functionality, solubility enhancement, pre-formulation and formulation of immediate- and extended-release oral solid dosage forms, and the use of non-invasive process analytical technologies to characterize oral solid dosage forms.

In addition to his teaching and research, Dave serves on the editorial advisory boards of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, American Pharmaceutical Review, and the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Excipients. He also serves as the chair of the Excipient Monograph Committee at the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and is an invited peer reviewer for several scientific journals. He is a member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP).
