Three Gifts Support Fisher’s School of Business
The School of Business at St. John Fisher University received three gifts totaling $350,000 to support scholarships and technology enhancements in its world-class trading lab.
The gifts were made as part of the University’s comprehensive fundraising campaign, Fisher Forward.
A $200,000 gift from Walter and Barbara Parkes will benefit the Walter and Barbara Parkes Trading Room Endowment, supporting the technology and equipment needs of the premier space, which opened in fall 2019. The lab is equipped with access to 10 Bloomberg Terminals, a software platform that provides real-time and historical data and market-moving news and analytics to help leading business and financial professionals worldwide make better-informed investment decisions. The University’s subscription to the Bloomberg Terminal serves as a resource for both students and professors, enabling students to become familiar with tools used in financial services and reinforcing classroom theory, while professors incorporate it into their coursework and use it to further their own research.
Alumnus John Dailey ’68 made a $100,000 gift to the School to create an endowed scholarship bearing his name. The funds will support full-time undergraduate students with financial need. Dailey’s gift honors the educational experience he received at Fisher as he seeks to aid future students who may face the same economic challenges he did.
RDG+Partners, a seven-partner firm providing personalized tax, business planning, accounting, auditing, and wealth management services, made a gift of $50,000 to create a scholarship for students pursuing a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. The goal of the scholarship is to increase the pipeline of accounting professionals in the Greater Rochester region.
“The University seeks to provide a transformational education that is accessible and affordable to those who will benefit most from a Fisher education, and the generosity of benefactors including Walter and Barbara Parkes, John Dailey, and the leadership at RDG+Partners, help us bring that mission to life,” said Dr. Gerard J. Rooney, president of the University. “We are grateful for their belief in our institution and their continued support of our students.”
