Tax Information (1098-T)
Your Tuition Statement, Form 1098-T, may be accessed online through Fish 'R' Net.
Your 2022 Tuition Statement, Form 1098-T, will be available by January 31, 2023 on Fish 'R' Net > Payment & Billing. Students will need to provide this information to parents if necessary, as authorized payers do not have electronic access to the 1098-T form. Students that have separated from the University still have access to Fish 'R' Net and this tax form. If you forgot your PIN, click 'Forgot PIN' and answer your security questions.
SJF is required to report in Box 1 the amount of qualified tuition and related expenses (QTRE) you paid during the year. It is important to know that Box 1 cannot exceed the amount of qualified tuition and related expenses we billed you. Depending on your situation this may include a carry forward from 2020. Please refer to the supplemental information at the bottom of the page where your 1098-T is displayed on Fish 'R' Net.
Depending on your income (or your family’s income, if you are a dependent), whether you were considered full or half-time enrolled, and the amount of your qualified educational expenses for the year, you may be eligible for a federal education tax credit. You can find detailed information about claiming education tax credits in IRS Publication 970 [pdf], page 9.
Please note that St. John Fisher University is unable to provide you with any tax advice or instructions on how to complete your tax forms. Contact a tax professional with questions about how form 1098-T can be used to complete your taxes or with any other tax questions.
