04/10/2023 - Biology and public health double major and Spanish for health/global health minor Mariangelis Gonzalez is the next member of the Class of 2023 to be featured in the “Countdown to Commencement” series. Gonzalez was nominated by Dr. Rick DeJesus-Rueff, academic director of the First-Generation Scholars Program; Emily Colliss, assistant director of the Institute for Civic and Community Engagement; and Gabe Iturbides, TRIO Student Support Services program director.
03/20/2023 - To advance its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, St. John Fisher University has joined Belong, an inclusive learning consortium through the national Council of Independent Colleges (CIC).
03/15/2023 - Dr. Christopher Ortega, assistant professor of communication and media studies at SUNY Cortland, will deliver the talk, “Give Spike His Flowers: Over 30 Years of ‘Doing the Right Thing.’” The lecture takes place at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 27, in Basil 135. It is free and open to the public.
03/14/2023 - The Wegmans School of Nursing and Wegmans School of Pharmacy at St. John Fisher University are partnering with Mt. Olivet Baptist Church to host a clinic that will provide free blood pressure screenings to members of the community.
03/07/2023 - This winter break, while participating in a medical service trip to Pune, India, Dr. Christine Birnie, dean of the Wegmans School of Pharmacy, established and advanced memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with two Indian schools of pharmacy.
02/03/2023 - Now in its second year, Cardinal Conversations aims to engage the campus community in dialogue and skill-building activities and create a meaningful action plan for the fall.
02/01/2023 - St. John Fisher University has received a $5,000 grant from the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), to focus on the development and implementation of a curriculum within the School of Arts and Sciences focusing on interfaith aspects of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
01/25/2023 - The Spirit of Identity Week helped to kick off the spring semester with energy and positivity with a focus on inclusion. Developed by student affinity groups with the assistance of Laura Fitzgerald, director of student engagement and leadership, and Senior Diversity Officer Dr. Marlowe Washington, this initiative was designed to help celebrate the unique cultures and communities found on campus.
01/17/2023 - The Spirit of Identity Week, a new initiative dedicated to celebrating the different cultures and communities on campus, launched on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, January 16, with the MLK Black Excellence Legacy Gala hosted by the Black Student Union.
01/16/2023 - Dr. Marta Rodríguez-Galán, an associate professor of sociology, anthropology, public health, and gerontology at St. John Fisher University, has been selected as the faculty fellow for Exhale: The Family Caregiver Initiative.
