Program Eligibility

The School Building Leader and School District Leader Program is open to applicants who:

  • Hold a New York state teaching certificate (professional or permanent) and have at least a year and a half of teaching experience before admission to the program.
  • Have a minimum of thirty (30) credits of a master’s degree program from an accredited higher education institution in an area that leads to permanent professional teacher or pupil personnel services certification.

Application Materials Needed

  • Completed online application.
  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work. (For the quickest transcript processing, please contact each institution attended and request an official transcript with electronic delivery to St. John Fisher University.)
  • Two recommendations. These should be from school administrators familiar with your potential to be successful as an educational leader. (You will be prompted to assign your recommenders within the online application.)
  • Current résumé.
  • A copy of your New York State Teaching Certification
  • Personal goal statement of 300 to 500 words that includes your:
    • Goals and plans for the future.
    • Reason for graduate study in your chosen field.
