Pharmaceutical Studies 2+4

Begin your journey to become a pharmacist through Fisher’s 2+4 program.

A pharmacy student stands in a pharmaceutical studies simulation space.

This competitive program allows you to complete your B.S. in pharmaceutical studies and your Pharm.D. in six years.

With clinical experiences throughout the Rochester region and opportunities to participate in health care trips abroad, you will gain hands-on experience in a variety of settings.

Program Overview

The pharmaceutical studies major fulfills the prerequisite requirements for Fisher’s Pharm.D.

In two years, you’ll have a strong start to your pharmacy career with a foundation in mathematics, chemistry, biology, and physics. You will also complete your Fisher Core and explore pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy practice.

Once accepted to the Pharm.D. program, 36 credits of advanced coursework will be applied to the B.S. in pharmaceutical studies. You’ll study aspects of drug design and synthesis, mechanisms of drug action, pharmacology, dosage formulation, epidemiology, and pharmacy law.

Life After Fisher

With a pharmaceutical studies major, you’ll be ready to transition to the Pharm.D. program to pursue a career as a pharmacist. The B.S. in pharmaceutical studies prepares you for careers in the sciences and health-related fields.

The Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Studies does not qualify you for licensure to become a registered pharmacist (Pharm.D. required).

The education I received at Fisher was invaluable. I feel more prepared than I ever imagined I would entering my career. ”
