Sustainability

Graduating with a degree in sustainability will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to make meaningful contributions to our society.

Your degree will build the foundation to address a wide variety of challenges ranging from pollution and climate to environmental justice to economic efficiency and environmental impact.

The BA in sustainability prepares you to address eco-sociological issues, environmental justice, as well as business sustainability challenges from a variety of different perspectives. Many students choose to double major in another field, creating an opportunity to bring sustainability to a broader audience.

The program requires a 145-hour sustainability experience with a community partner, ensuring that you will gain valuable professional experience at a public, private, or nonprofit organization.

Program Overview

A minimum of 27 credits is required to complete the B.A. in sustainability at Fisher. The program curriculum consists of courses in environmental studies, economics, and public policy. A range of electives allows you to tailor the program to meet your specific needs and interests.

As a participant in the sustainability program, you will:

  • Recognize and apply an understanding of sustainability from a broad variety of perspectives and connect concepts of sustainability to a disciplinary focus.
  • Develop the capacity for integrative thinking and problem-solving approaches.
  • Create an effective solution to a sustainability issue with a community partner.
