The Red Letter, ANGELS, Soaring Publish New Issues

May 6, 2024

Students from St. John Fisher University have published new issues of its journals, showcasing the creativity and scholarly efforts of the campus community.

New this year is The Red Letter, a literary magazine that explores topics from love to loss to soft jazz. The Red Letter is comprised entirely of work written by Fisher students. Look out for print issues around campus very soon.

Now in its twelfth edition, ANGLES features creative work from students across the country. The theme of this year’s issue is movement and body through time, captured by featured artist Syd Brewster who uses vivid color to bring the motif to life. This issue also includes the prose, “Letters of Change,” written by Fisher student Robbie Beach.

Students interested in being a part of The Red Letter and ANGLES teams next year can email Stephen West at swest@sjf.edu.

The 2024 edition of Soaring: A Journal of Undergraduate Research, which is produced by the Honors Program, is now live. This year’s edition of the journal was produced by two sets of editorial teams. The spring editorial team was led by Editors-in-Chief Jessica Carone ’25 and Caitlin Voloshen ’26, and included Allison Lennebacker ’25, Brady Mason ’25, Gabriella DiSanto ’25, Gordon Wester ’24, James Murphy ’24, Katie Fiannaca ’24, and Nick Lemire ’24. The fall editorial team was led by Editors-in-Chief Collin Ruth ’24 and Jake Slowinski ’24 and included Jackson Bishop ’24, Tony DiRubbo ’24, Liz Gass ’24, Gregorio Ranieri ’24, Collin Ruth ’24, Jack Schauber ’24, Matt Slowinski ’26, and Grace Tursi ’23. All of the students involved in the publication are members of the Honors Program.

The fall editorial team selected the “first-year research” papers, and the spring editorial team selected the “advanced undergraduate research” section. All of these individuals worked incredibly hard to review and accept the most thought-provoking and well-written papers.

Students whose papers have been accepted into this publication include Cora Blunden, Nate Bricker, Natalie Byrd, Angelica Funes, Jack Gullo, Ian Klenk, Gabriella Lawrence, Nate Lewis, Kyler Ripley, and Parker Wolfe.
