Wegmans School of Nursing Earns Prestigious INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standards Endorsement™
May 14, 2026
The St. John Fisher University Wegmans School of Nursing has been awarded the INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standards Endorsement™, a recognition that highlights excellence in healthcare simulation practices. Organizations who receive the endorsement demonstrate a commitment to pursue and sustain excellence in the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice®, designated as the “Cornerstone” Health Simulation Standards.
“This endorsement is a powerful recognition of the exceptional work happening in our simulation center every day. Our experiential learning faculty and staff are deeply committed to creating immersive, high-impact learning experiences that help our students grow as clinicians and as compassionate leaders. I’m incredibly proud of this team and what this achievement means for the future of nursing education at Fisher,” said Dr. Tricia Gatlin, dean of the Wegmans School of Nursing.
The Wegmans School of Nursing is one of only approximately 45 Schools with this endorsement across the country; and among nine in the Northeast region and only four in New York State. INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standards Endorsement™ validates the School’s commitment to upholding the highest standards in prebriefing, facilitation, professional integrity, and debriefing. It serves as a testament to the organization’s dedication to advancing education, enhancing professional development, and improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practices.
Programs that have received this endorsement recognize all varieties of simulation-based experiences, are working to improve healthcare education and patient safety through the practice of high-quality simulation, and possess a commitment to innovation.
The School’s Glover Crask Simulation Center is a 10,400 square foot, hospital grade training environment designed to mirror real clinical settings and support immersive, evidence based learning. This environment allows students to practice clinical judgment, communication, and patient centered care in a safe, high fidelity setting that prepares them for real world nursing. The Center includes:
Five simulation rooms — including dedicated obstetrics and pediatric spaces — equipped with specialized medical simulation technology.
Community care environment for home visit scenarios and role play.
Centralized control room where faculty facilitate and monitor simulations.
Three debriefing rooms that support reflective learning and structured feedback.
Pyxis MedStation system — the leading automated medication dispensing technology — giving students hands on experience with tools used in modern clinical practice.
New in 2024, the School added an Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality Lab that expands simulation beyond physical space. The lab features immersive 3D learning that places students inside realistic patient scenarios; virtual and augmented reality technology that allows students to practice assessments, interventions, and decision making. This space enhances experiential learning and supports the School’s commitment to innovative, student centered education.
