The Golisano Institute for Developmental Disability Nursing to Host Webinar on Palliative Care Across the Lifespan for IDD Patients

The St. John Fisher University Golisano Institute for Developmental Disability Nursing will host a webinar featuring nurse-led dialogue across care settings on palliative care throughout the lifespan for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The free webinar is scheduled for Thursday, May 28, from 12 noon to 1 p.m.

The St. John Fisher University Golisano Institute for Developmental Disability Nursing will host a webinar featuring nurse-led dialogue across care settings on palliative care throughout the lifespan for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The free webinar is scheduled for Thursday, May 28, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. 

This discussion brings together Joy Hogan, MSN, PPCNP-BC, visiting assistant professor at St. John Fisher University; Caitlyn Moore, DNP, MS, CRNP, AGACNP-BC, ACHPN, assistant professor at Thomas Jefferson University; and Ruth Benjamin, RN, GERO-BC, CDDN, CRRN, CHP, RN consultant, all of whom have expertise and experience caring for IDD patients. 

Panelists will explore:

  • Supporting comfort, communication, and shared decision‑making
  • Partnering with individuals, families, and chosen supporters
  • Coordinating care across settings while honoring autonomy, values, and dignity

The one-hour event has been approved for 1.0 contact hour of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and will challenge assumptions, elevate practice, and center dignity around end-of-life care for people with IDD.
