July 13, 2026
Rebecca Pelino ’86, managing partner, Capital Investment Advisors, LLC, and Daniel J. Boyce Esq. ’79, former attorney and founder of the Law Office of Daniel J. Boyce, Esq., were recently voted to serve as the new chair and vice chair of the St. John Fisher University Board of Trustees. Pelino is the first alumna to serve in the chair role. Pelino and Boyce began their two-year terms on June 1, 2026.
The Board of Trustees determines the general, educational, and financial policies of the University. In addition, the Board has responsibility for sound resource management of the institution and works closely with the president in planning the strategic direction of the University.
“I am pleased to welcome Rebecca Pelino and Dan Boyce as the new chair and vice chair of the Board of Trustees. As alumni, and dedicated members of the Board, their contributions to the University have been invaluable. I look forward to working with them both to continue to build on their leadership and to further the mission of our University,” said Dr. Gerard J. Rooney, president of the University. “I also extend my appreciation to Phil Yawman for his dedicated service to the Board during his tenure as chair. His leadership and business acumen has helped guide our institution throughout his tenure.”
Pelino, who had served as vice chair of the Board from 2024-2026, earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Fisher and is founding and managing partner of Capital Investment Advisors (CIA). She is responsible for CIA’s acquisitions, manages deal origination and capital sourcing, and oversees all project management activities, contracts management, as well as the company’s leasing and sales efforts. The principals of CIA have owned, managed, and developed a real estate portfolio for the past 25+ years.
Prior to forming CIA, she was a managing partner in a land development firm. Pelino holds a Class A General Contractors License and has been involved in new construction projects and renovations of multifamily projects, commercial projects, and single family detached homes since 1989. She began her career as a commercial real estate broker and worked for a national commercial real estate firm in their large asset sales department.
An active alumna of Fisher, Pelino joined the Board of Trustees in 2019 and has held leadership positions on several committees. In 2021, she made a gift to the University to establish the Rebecca Pelino ’86 Entrepreneur-in-Residence Program, funding a new faculty position and bolstering a robust entrepreneurship program at the School of Business.
Boyce joined the University’s Board of Trustees in 2021. A former general practice attorney, Boyce founded the Law Office of Daniel J. Boyce, Esq. in 1998, concentrating in maritime law and civil litigation. A 1979 graduate of the University, he served as president of the Student Government Association during his senior year at Fisher. He went on to earn Juris Doctor and Master of Laws degrees from Temple University School of Law, where he served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Legal Studies at the Fox School of Business.
Boyce and his wife, Shelley, created the Boyce Family Nursing Scholarship in 2025 and the Boyce Family Endowed Scholarship in 2020. In 2022, they established the Boyce Family Varsity Weight Room, a high-use space on campus that serves the entire Fisher community and hosts nearly 725 student-athletes in the facilities for weekly team training sessions.
They have also funded scholarships and research at the University of South Carolina, University of Virginia, and the University of Delaware, where their daughters are alumnae. Boyce formerly served as a member of Temple’s Owl Club executive board, which supports the University’s athletics program, and in 2018, the University opened the Dan and Shelley Boyce Track at the Temple Sports Complex in honor of their philanthropy.
The duo takes the helm as Fisher enters its next chapter with strong momentum. Guided by its Strategic Plan, “Fisher 2030: Pathways to Purpose,” the University continues to advance student success, organizational innovation, and community engagement with clarity and ambition. Record-level fundraising, expanding academic programs, and new strategic partnerships are strengthening Fisher’s capacity to serve the region.
