About the School of Arts and Sciences
Fisher is an exceptional community in an exceptional time.
Welcome to the School of Arts and Sciences
The School of Arts and Sciences, the University’s largest school, offers degrees in majors that prepare students to be leaders and agents of change in today’s ever-changing workforce.
The School grounds the Fisher education in the liberal arts and the application of knowledge to the tough questions that we all face as part of the human community of the 21st century.
Programs in the arts and sciences address your major interests and your career readiness. In every program, you will develop analytical and conceptual thinking, the ability to collaborate with different people from all walks of life, the wherewithal to write and speak well, and the background to talk about data and why it matters—skills that employers tell us they are looking for today more than ever. Whether you choose the humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences, there are countless opportunities waiting for you here.
Our Fisher Core ensures that all Fisher grads are prepared to meet the challenges of the next few decades. Our Core courses give you the option to explore topics that are interesting to you and to simultaneously deeply engage with the key learning of a Fisher education along the entire pathway of your Fisher degree, from first-year learning communities to capstone experiences that bring students together to tackle a community issue.
The Core builds on our commitment to help engage in the discovery of new knowledge, an opportunity we know is critical to successful graduates of great colleges. Fisher provides up-close and personal experiences that will support you in creating and telling your work story.
I am proud to serve as the dean of this incredible School and to be a part of the St. John Fisher University community.
