iFisher Apple Academy

Fisher Apple Academy 1.0

Fisher Apple Academy 1.0 provides faculty the skills to use iPads in the teaching and learning process. The training included basic iPad navigation, training on specific apps, and brainstorming how the use of this technology might be used in specific courses. This training opportunity takes place over a 3-week period and is conducted mostly asynchronously through Brightspace, with opportunities for in-person sessions held throughout the 3-week experience for small groups of faculty to practice their skills with the support of a facilitator and colleagues.

Apple Teacher Certification

As part of Apple Academy 1.0, each faculty member will have the opportunity to earn recognition as an Apple Certified Teacher. This certification is awarded by Apple to educators who successfully complete a series of six interactive badges through the Apple Teacher Learning Center, with a focus on Apple-specific apps and tools to elevate your teaching practice. You’ll also receive a certificate of completion and a personalized email signature to showcase your achievement.

Fisher Apple Academy 2.0

Fisher Apple Academy 2.0 expands on the skills learned in 1.0, with a stronger focus on the integration of the iPads into course design, course activities, and the ways instructors can encourage student use of the iPads during and outside of class time. Topics covered include collecting, grading, and giving feedback on student work via the iPad, using the accessibility features of the iPad to promote inclusive teaching and universal design for learning, exploring eResources and OER opportunities, the best practices in augmented reality on the iPad and more.
