Room Use Policies
Overview
Lavery Library is a shared space for the entire Fisher community. Fisher students, faculty, and staff are welcome to use our variety of open spaces and study rooms to meet their needs, with priority given to Fisher students. Study rooms with varying technology, as well as spaces with designated noise levels, are available throughout the building for your use. We encourage you to select a space that works best for you and is respectful of those around you.
We ask that you help us keep Lavery clean and welcoming by following all library and university policies, and by taking your belongings, food, and trash with you when you leave. Let’s all do our part to leave spaces as nice as we found them—or even nicer!
Need help finding the right spot? Stop by the Library Service Desk on the second floor—we’re happy to help!
General Study Room Use
Please observe these guidelines when using our first-come, first-served study rooms. Consider the following when choosing your space:
- Choose the right fit: select a study room that best fits your preferred noise level and technology needs. Use headphones if audio is necessary.
- We have small and large study rooms.
- Large study rooms are available for two (2) or more people. Individuals are welcome to use an unoccupied large study room, knowing you may be asked to relocate during busier times.
- If you need to leave the study room for an extended period, please bring your belongings with you. Library staff may remove unattended items to the Library Service Desk after an extended period to accommodate other students. Lavery is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Lavery is popular! At their discretion, staff may ask you to relocate to a different space, for reasons including but not limited to:
- Someone else needs the technology or feature in the room you are not using,
- you have been occupying a study room for longer than three hours during busier times,
- your volume exceeds the designated noise level of the space, or
- there is an upcoming scheduled exam, meeting, or service in a room designated for Accessibility and Testing Services, Writing and Tutoring Services, and Career Services.
- Staff may need to enter an occupied room. Thank you for your understanding!
