03/15/2022 - When a Tennessee school district banned Maus from its curriculum in January, it sparked a nationwide discussion of book banning and resurgence in sales of the almost 30-year-old Pulitzer prize-winning graphic novel about the Holocaust.

Fisher to Open New Interprofessional Simulation Center Faculty and students in the Glover-Crask Simulation Center.

03/14/2022 - A $500,000 grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation will establish the Interprofessional Simulation Center (IPE Sim Center) at St. John Fisher College. The new laboratory will mirror health care practice settings where nursing and pharmacy students can engage in collective learning, professional role discovery, and skill development.

St. John Fisher College Appoints New Cavanaugh Chair of Catholic Studies Rev. George T. Smith, CSB

03/14/2022 - St. John Fisher College has appointed Rev. George T. Smith, CSB, as the institution’s William and Helen Cavanaugh Chair of Catholic Studies in the School of Arts and Sciences. Smith is the first Basilian but second priest to be appointed to this role; he succeeds Rev. William Graf, who served as a member of the Fisher faculty for 37 years including as chair of the Religious Studies Department before his retirement in 2020. Smith will officially begin his role on September 1.

Lecture Explores Media Access for Women and People of Color Dr. Rebecca Lind

03/09/2022 - The Department of Media and Communication at St. John Fisher College will present the spring lecture, “Different Voices, Different Paths: Media Access for Women and People of Color in the U.S.,” presented by Dr. Rebecca Lind of University of Illinois at Chicago. The lecture will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 28, in the Joseph S. Skalny Welcome Center in the James ’71 and Kathleen Leo Community Room, followed by a reception and hors d'oeuvres at 6:45 p.m.

03/08/2022 - St. John Fisher College has earned 2022-2023 Military Friendly® School designation by Viqtory Media. Fisher was awarded the gold rank in the private doctorate offering category and was one of only 665 schools to earn special awards of the more than 1,800 participating institutions.
