Accounting Alumnus of the Year Award
The Accounting Alumnus of the Year award was created in 1990 to honor the achievements of distinguished Fisher accounting alumni.
The recipient must not only exemplify Fisher's core values, but must meet three basic criteria of noteworthy career achievement, significant humanitarian effort, and outstanding contribution to the Fisher community.
2020/21 Recipient
Herb Engert ’89
Managing Partner, Ernst & Young LLP New York Office
St. John Fisher College honored Herb Engert ’89 as its 2020/2021 Accounting Alumnus of the Year during the 31st annual Accounting Awards Celebration, held on April 27, 2021 via Zoom.
Engert is the managing partner of Ernst & Young LLP’s New York City office, the firm’s U.S. headquarters.
Prior to his current role, Engert served as the firm’s global private equity leader, where he worked with leadership across regions, service lines, and sectors to build solutions and drive quality service for private equity funds and their portfolio companies. He has also led many of EY’s most dynamic growth-oriented companies, supporting them through their transformation, digital strategies, and growth.
Engert is a true believer in authentic leadership, committed to making an impact on diversity and inclusiveness efforts — including LGBTQ+ equality — in the workplace, youth mentorship, and next-generation talent. A supporter of the arts, he serves on the board of the Roundabout Theatre Company and is active with Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. He is also actively involved with the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, the entrepreneur networking nonprofit, Endeavor, and The Kauffman Foundation, which provides funding so that enterprising individuals may achieve financial success.
In 2019, Engert was recognized by City & State as one of the most influential and powerful finance leaders in New York City.
