Public Health Expert Publishes Book Examining Biostatistics David Baronov

03/17/2023 - Dr. David Baronov, professor and chair of the Department of Anthropology and Sociology, recently published a book, Biostatistics: An Introduction and Conceptual Critique. Baronov has had a long-term interest in writing a book about the ontological distortions present in the social sciences, but it was not until the COVID-19 pandemic, and a timely sabbatical, that he found the time to write more actively.

Lecture to Explore Legacy of Spike Lee Spike Lee

03/15/2023 - Dr. Christopher Ortega, assistant professor of communication and media studies at SUNY Cortland, will deliver the talk, “Give Spike His Flowers: Over 30 Years of ‘Doing the Right Thing.’” The lecture takes place at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 27, in Basil 135. It is free and open to the public.

Cybersecurity, Computer Science Majors Compete in CyberSEED competition Students participate in the CyberSEED competition

03/09/2023 - Two teams of six students from St. John Fisher University took part in the 2023 CyberSEED cybersecurity competition, hosted annually by the University of Connecticut. Held on Saturday, March 4, the Fisher teams competed against more than 180 teams from schools across the country, including the Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Maryland, Northeastern University, and more.

Cavanaugh Lecture Features Memoirist, Creative Writing Professor Sonya Hubert

03/08/2023 - Author and professor Sonya Hubert will deliver the 2023 Cavanaugh Lecture at St. John Fisher University. Sponsored by the English Department, the event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, in the Golisano Gateway Midlevel, and is free and open to the public.

Loss Lecture Features Leading Researcher in Nanostructured Materials Dr. Humberto Terrones

02/22/2023 - Dr. Humberto Terrones, Rayleigh Endowed Chair and professor of physics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), will present the lecture, “The Fascinating Quantum World of 2-D Materials” as part of St. John Fisher University’s annual Robert and Janice Loss Science Lecture Series, established in 2003 to promote the study of sciences among youth.
