11/15/2020 - As a freshman at St. John Fisher College, Emily Trotman ’21 had always dreamed of becoming a marketing major. She was inspired by her brother, who majored in marketing as a student at Fisher. She saw the success it brought him, and she loved that it could take her anywhere. From that point on, she had a clear path with what she wanted to do for the foreseeable future.

11/11/2020 - St. John Fisher College alumnus and trustee Michael O’Conor ’78 has made a generous $100,000 gift to the College to establish the Pam and Michael A. O’Conor ’78 New York City Internship Endowment. The fund will support career-immersion experiences in the greater New York City area for Fisher students, including stipends toward living accommodations, subway passes, and other expenses.

11/06/2020 - On Friday, Oct. 30, St. John Fisher College students participated in the 2020 Deloitte FanTAXtic Competition. To prepare, Lauren Robbins, Samantha Haines, Brian Norsen, Noah Campanelli, and LucyMarie Gaulin spent the past month researching a case study. With the help of a faculty advisor and a Deloitte tax professional, the students developed solutions to their case, and in the process, gained a better understanding of the real-world problems accounting professionals handle every day.

11/02/2020 - For the first time ever, the St. John Fisher College American Marketing Association (AMA) chapter hosted a weeklong, virtual showcase of career opportunities and highlighted the benefits of AMA membership during its annual Marketing Week. Held in mid-October, the schedule included professional speakers and informational workshops.

Salerno Named Fellow of the Academy of Electrical Contracting Victor E. Salerno ’66

10/19/2020 - St. John Fisher College alumnus and Board of Trustees member Victor E. Salerno ’66 was selected to become a Fellow of the Academy of Electrical Contracting, through the National Electrical Contractors Association. He was formally installed into the Academy on Tuesday, Oct. 6, during NECA 2020 LIVE, the association’s virtual convention and trade show.

10/17/2020 - Students, faculty, and staff in the School of Business are hosting a food drive to benefit Bethany House. Organized by Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) and the Dean’s Student Advisory Council (DSAC), the drive will run from now until Friday, Nov. 13.

10/09/2020 - This month, accounting students in Dr. Omar Watt’s Intermediate Accounting course set aside their spreadsheets and financial statements to develop the skills needed to successfully interview for an internship during the first-ever Accounting Perfect Pitch competition.
