05/01/2019 - With the creation of the new Golisano Institute for Developmental Disability Nursing, the Wegmans School of Nursing will transform the way nurses treat the unique needs of individuals with developmental disabilities (DD). Made possible through a $5.8 million gift from Tom Golisano, founder and chairman of Paychex, and the Golisano Foundation, the Institute is the first of its kind in the United States.

College Factual: Fisher’s Nursing Program a Great Value Graduates of the Wegmans School of Nursing decorated their mortar boards for Commencement.

04/24/2019 - The undergraduate nursing program at St. John Fisher College ranked as a “Best Value for the Money” in an annual nationwide ranking of U.S. colleges and universities. College search website, College Factual, ranked the nursing program, which is housed in the Wegmans School of Nursing, No. 42 out of 500 programs at colleges and universities in the country reviewed as “Best for the Money.”

Walk Raises $22,000 for Suicide Prevention Foundation This year, members of the Wegmans School of Pharmacy walked in honor of their colleague, Dr. Jack Brown, who passed away from suicide in November 2017.

04/08/2019 - More than 343 participants raised over $22,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) during the third annual Out of the Darkness Walk at St. John Fisher College.

04/04/2019 - More than 300 St. John Fisher College students, faculty, and staff will join the effort to bring awareness to suicide and suicide prevention during the third annual Out of the Darkness Campus Walk. Scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, April 7, the walk begins at Kearney Hall, in Cleary Auditorium.

Dr. Char Smith Receives 2019 Szarejko Faculty Information Literacy Award Charlene Smith

04/03/2019 - Lavery Library selected Dr. Char Smith, DNS, MSEd, WHNP, RN-BC, CNE, ANEF, as the recipient of the 2019 Dr. Mark Szarejko Faculty Information Literacy Award. The award honors faculty members at St. John Fisher College who serve as an advocate for information literacy, promoting it both on campus among students and faculty, and beyond.

Forum Explores Role of Health Information Technology in Addressing Public Health Priorities Dr. Michael Mendoza, the ninth commissioner of public health for Monroe County, and Dr. Karen Bell, director of the Center for Health and Care with JBS International will lead the discussion.

04/01/2019 - The St. John Fisher College Master of Public Health program will host a community conversation about the future role and potential of emerging health information technology as a critical resource for addressing patterns of basic health needs for both local and global populations. The event runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, in the Skalny Welcome Center Board Room.
