11/10/2021 - The End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC), a partnership between the American Association of Colleges of Nurses and the City of Hope, in Duarte, California, once again included St. John Fisher College’s Wegmans School of Nursing on its ELNEC-Undergraduate Champions List.

10/29/2021 - A twice-monthly peer support group on campus is designed to help students address their mental health issues with the assistance of peers and professionals. A cross-campus collaboration, the sessions are organized by Dr. Chris Noel, visiting associate professor in the Wegmans School of Pharmacy, and facilitated by two graduate students in the mental health counseling program in the Wegmans School of Nursing.

10/25/2021 - St. John Fisher College alumna Ellen Fichera ’21 (M.S.), and students William DePasquale ’22 (Pharm.D.) and Anthony Nicolosi ’23 were named recipients of the Italian Women’s Civic Club (IWCC) Dante Scholarship Award. Fichera was honored as a 2020 recipient, and DePasquale and Nicolosi were honored as 2021 recipients.

Federal Grant Expands Mental Health Training Program Dr. Rob Rice discusses a new $1.8 million grant that will provide significant funding to train underrepresented students in the Mental Health Counseling and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner master’s degree programs to serve and care for the communities in which they reside.

09/13/2021 - In 2017-18, when the Wegmans School of Nursing at St. John Fisher College was awarded two grants totaling $2.2 million to train students to respond to patients using an interdisciplinary approach, mental health was already a national crisis. Now, after nearly two years of isolation, fear, and uncertainty spawned by the COVID-19 pandemic, creating a workforce that is prepared to deliver the best possible care to those struggling with mental health is an even greater necessity.
